The Workshop will take place at the Builidng of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of the University of Cretei. The University Campus is located 8km south-west of the center of the city of Heraklion:

Reaching the workshop venue

1. By taxi. You may take a taxi from a Taxi Station (in many central locations), call a taxi by phone (e.g., 2810210102), or just stop a passing-by taxi in the street by simply raising your hand. Ask the taxi driver to get you to the Building of Mathematics in the campus of the University of Crete, near the University Hospital. The Building of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is located between the Building of the Computer Science Department and of Building of the Physics Department. The taxi fare from the Eleftherias Square (city centre) is approximately 15 € and it will get you to the campus in 25 min depending on the existing traffic.

2. By bus. There are two city bus lines that you can use to get to the campus of the University of Crete: The one-way ticket price is 1.70€ for either lines. Ticket vending machines are located next to most bus stations. You can also buy tickets from most kiosks around the city and you may buy bus tickets in the reception of your hotel. A convenient bus stop is located outside Hotel Astoria at Eleftherias Square. Please keep in mind that traffic may affect departure and arrival times.

Travel

1. Getting to Heraklion By Air. Nikos Kazantzakis airport (airport code: HER) can be reached from Athens (and other major Greek cities) by frequent daily flights of Aegean Airlines. Flight time to/from Athens is about 40min. During the period April to October Heraklion can be reached by direct flights from many European cities.

2. Getting to Heraklion By Sea. Luxury ferries sail from Piraeus (Athens) to Heraklion every evening: departures from Piraeus is at 9:00pm with arrival in Heraklion at 6:30am in the next morning. For precise schedule and fares please check: Minoan Lines, ANEK Lines and Blue Star Ferries. We recommend that you book a bed in a cabin and enjoy a trip in the Archipelago drinking, dining, shopping etc in the ferry.

3. Airport to City center. From Heraklion airport you may either use public transportation (bus) or a taxi (stationed just outside the arrivals building). We highly recommend the taxi option. Approximate taxi fares are 10€ to city center, 18€ to the University campus.

4. Port to City center. The port is located 1.2km from the city center. You may either take a taxi or opt for a walk to your hotel.

Accommodation

There are plenty of hotel and airbnb-type apartments for short rent in the city center and in other areas.
